a) Introduction 

 

Teaching Practicum Course information

This the last course of the subject Pedagogical Practicum. The professional practicum belongs to the  theoretic and practical integration area of formation and corresponds to the eighth course in which the student develops a participation process in the educational institution through observations and interventions in the classroom context.

Period: The course consisted of 2 theoretical hours per week at Universsity and 18 weeks teaching in a classrrom context. 

Objectives: 

-Demonstrate professional competences that show the knowledge and skills acquired by students from different areas of learning.

-Attach the constituent elements of professional identity with facilitators and hindering aspects of professional performance.

-Critically analyze their pedagogical action, proposing and implementing, in a creative way, relevant solutions to the problems of the educational reality in which the student performs.

-Value the pedagogical action as an integral activity, rich in experiences and useful in aspects related to personal development.

Duties:

-To attend to theoretical classes at University.

-To teach in a classroom context for 18 weeks.

Class

English Level: The students' level of english was Basic according to their marks and their performance in the subject. 
 
Number of Students: Each 4° grade class had an average number of 18 to 33 students.  
 
Socio economical background: Most of the students had a low socio economical situation according to the records that the school have. 
 
Behavioural Patterns: There were some recurrent behaviour in almost all the classes where I taught english, for instance, students were very talkative, noisy, but willing to participate. 
 
Class mark averages: According to the records kept in the grade book, Students' marks averages of 2°, 3° & 4° grades were from 4,0 to 6,0.  
 
Learning style: According to what my guide teacher told me the students' learning styles were visual and auditory. 
 
Parents' support: Based on what I observed in parents' meetings It could be said that they give a lot of support to students.

b) Units and Lesson Planning

 
In this section I will include Muestras de Desempeño Docente (MDD) which show some reflections and performances on different circunstances during the professional practicum.  
 
Standard 1. Teaching Contextualization. 
 
This MDD consist of information regarding the teaching context. 
 
 
Standard 2 & 3. Learning Goals and Lesson Planning. 
 
This MDD is about the learning goals and lesson planning to develop the teaching process. 
 
 
Standard 4. Evaluation Plan. 
 
This MDD shows the proposal of an evaluation plan in order to evaluate students' performance in the subject. 
 
 
Standard 5. Decision Making and Analysis of Results. 
 
This MDD presents some modifications to the lesson planning and the results that students obatained in the unit. 
 
 
Standard 6. Reflexive Self-evaluation. 
 
This MDD is about a reflexive self-evaluation in which I reflex on the good and bad decisions made during this process. 
 
 

 

c) Counseling and Head Teaching experience.

 
During the period of counseling and head teaching I filled the Book of classes with the personal students' information, I oriented them on themes related with university and what they have to consider to choose a career and a Institution in order to make the right decision. However, this instances were not many since most of the time available was used by the students to discuss class issues.
 
 
 

 

d) Other teaching Practicum experiences 

During the professional practicum I also participated in different teachers' meetings, in an english workshop, in some parents' meetings, and in the student's day. On the student's day I had to dance with other teachers a famous song of Bruno Marz, and I also had to participate in a short play dressed up as mickey Mouse interpreting a song of Pimpinelas.
